Abano Bridge
Bridges are infrastructure links allowing for better interchange and communication of separate parts. In this sense the idea of a bridge as an accelerator of urban redevelopment is used in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi.
The project acts as a generator for the redevelopment of the surrounding urban quarters by linking the banks of the river by a new bridge and introducing public spaces along the riverside. It is recreating the Tbilisi’s tradition of bridges and urban life along the riverside while giving access to a historic memorial site.
In close collaboration with the engineers Büro Happold, a pedestrian bridge is designed in the purest terms. A lightweight bridge design is generated from structural forces and the aim of minimal intervention to the river valley.
Shaping the future means having a vision of combining form, function and responsibility in a sustainable way. Ask me.
