Preserving history

Pott Architects is pleased to modernize a genuine example of GDR architecture, the former Australian Embassy in the eastern Berlin district of Pankow, for new uses.

The 3.000 square metre building from the 1970s at Majakowskiring is located in a 5.000 square metre park-like site. The aesthetics of this standardised building type and many well-preserved design details like hand made facade elements from the renowned ceramics studio of Hedwig Bollhagen grant a landmark quality to the building. By sensitively renewing the former embassy, Pott Architects is contributing to preserve some of the GDR architecture in a contemporary way

Preserving history is, in our view, a process of restructuring, of creating a new experience of the old. Ask me about it.
