Designing to Budget

A prescribed, limited building budget and the corresponding task determined the design of the project Pavillion Carlswerk from the beginning.

The provisions were defined in simple terms and constrained the necessary spatial programme, the resulting structural volume and the means at our disposal.

The conceptual aim was to achieve a reduction in surface and hence to save on material and construction. We developed a simple frame which enabled us to create the required volume through three spatially related surfaces. The resulting building thus consists exclusively of floor and roof areas with maximum surface efficiency.

Designing to budget is a question of balancing standards of highest quality with cost-efficieny. Ask me about it.
